TITLE ASSISTANT | OAK FOREST, IL
Full-Time | In-Office Position

This position is 100% in-office at our Oak Forest, Illinois location. This is NOT a remote or hybrid position.
At Barrister Title, we believe exceptional closings begin long before closing day. Behind every smooth transaction is a team of professionals working together to solve problems, communicate proactively, and keep every file moving forward.

We're looking for a Title Assistant who is organized, dependable, detail-oriented, and ready to become an important part of our title team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in title, mortgage, lending, legal, or real estate who wants to build a long-term career in the title industry.

You don't necessarily need years of title experience—but you do need to understand the importance of deadlines, accuracy, communication, customer service, and taking ownership of your work.

If you're naturally curious, enjoy solving problems, and want to learn from experienced title professionals, we'd love to meet you.

ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Title Assistant, you'll work alongside our Title Examiners and Processors to help prepare title commitments, clear title requirements, obtain necessary documentation, communicate with parties to the transaction, and keep files moving toward closing.

This is much more than a general administrative position. You'll become an important part of the title process while developing skills and knowledge that can lead to long-term growth within the title industry.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
  • Open new title orders and accurately enter file information.
  • Assist with preparing and updating title commitments.
  • Help clear title requirements by obtaining payoffs, releases, affidavits, and supporting documentation.
  • Order tax information, HOA documents, and other required items.
  • Prepare CPLs and supporting title documents.
  • Communicate professionally with lenders, Realtors, attorneys, buyers, and sellers.
  • Follow up on outstanding title requirements and documentation.
  • Monitor files to help ensure commitments and title documents are completed and delivered promptly.
  • Maintain organized electronic files and accurate documentation.
  • Assist Title Examiners and Processors with title-related tasks.
  • Help identify missing information or potential issues before they become closing-day problems.
  • Jump in wherever needed to help the team keep transactions moving.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
Previous experience in title, mortgage, lending, real estate, or a legal environment is strongly preferred.
We're also looking for someone who has:
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Confidence communicating with professionals and clients by phone and email.
  • The ability to prioritize multiple files and deadlines.
  • Strong follow-through and a sense of ownership.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Strong computer skills and the ability to learn new systems.
  • A positive, professional attitude.
  • A genuine willingness to learn the title industry.
  • The desire to build a long-term career rather than simply find another job.
SoftPro experience and previous title-company experience are a plus.

YOU'LL THRIVE HERE IF YOU:
  • Love learning new things.
  • Enjoy figuring out how things work.
  • Take ownership of your responsibilities.
  • Communicate proactively instead of waiting to be asked.
  • Notice details others might miss.
  • Follow through when you say you'll do something.
  • Enjoy helping teammates succeed.
  • Stay organized when things get busy.
  • Believe no task is beneath you when it helps the team.
  • Want to continue learning and growing professionally.
